First time at this facility.. the RV park looked great. But we stayed in the hotel. The room was fine, clean and nothing appeared outdated. Everything worked. The casino is an array of penny slots which can still be expensive. Only saw one person win anything. We did walk out up. But the casino is not that large, it’s dark and no one seems to be winning anything worth mentioning. Our hotel floor corridor had a heavy marijuana smell all all evening long. And there were a number of strange people hanging around the side entrance late at night. Glad we visited, but will not return.

Overall good visit, could be doing more for Pandemic
Jul 2020 • Couples
Visited with my wife recently, we walked out up about $200 so that was good. It was a Tuesday evening so very quiet, we had our run of the place.
Saw very little in the way of staff cleaning, they do have a infrared temperature taking device at the door, so that is good. Lots of hand sanitizer stations on the floor, but be warned, it's very stinky and refuses to come off even after repeated washings with soap.
Overall a good experience but they certainly could be putting in more effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.Written July 29, 2020

Had fun! Nice hotel.
Feb 2021
We had a really great time! Won quite a bit on slots. We tried Bingo but didn’t win anything. Room was very nice and very clean. I was surprised I didn’t see more people cleaning around the casino. Actually, in our 2 days there, I didn’t see anyone cleaning in the casino at all. No special spacing of machines either. Not a huge issue for me but was surprised. Can’t comment on restaurants as most were closed(we knew this before visiting). We would definitely visit again.

Quality of Hotel
Aug 2021 • Couples
If you’re going to be staying in the attached hotel read this…
My wife and I recently stayed at the hotel portion for a wedding. The casino area seemed nice enough but we weren’t prepared for the whole place to smell like a gigantic ashtray. If you’re sensitive to this smell, even the “non-smoking” rooms will leave you and your baggage smelling foul.
The rooms are spacious but extremely dated. Doesn’t look like the rooms have been touched since the early 90’s. The mattress was terrible and each room is provided four very small pillows, unlike what normal hotels provide. The whole bed felt like it was being protected by rubberized protections which leads me to believe they’ve had “issues” in the past.
The real issue for us was the noise. We got back to our room around 12:30am. There were literally people screaming until 3:30am and parties being held in adjacent rooms. Security was more interested in making sure people were wearing facial coverings than the obnoxious noise coming from hotel rooms.
Both my wife and I have had our fair share of travel due to employment and vacations. This was, by far, the worst stay of our lives.Written August 29, 2021

Unsafe!!!!!!!
Aug 2020
Arrived at the casino on 8/21 expecting all the safety precautions experienced at other local casinos. I saw almost zero except for the wearing of masks and available hand sanitizer stations..
#1. Our temperature was not taken when entering the casino.
#2. Danbury, Black Bear and Fond du Luth all have every other slot turned off to provide social distancing when playing. Not Hinckley. Every slot was turned on. Social distancing another huge zero. The place was packed with people so social distancing was impossible, even walking around the place.
#3. Sanitizing was a joke. The other 3 casinos mentioned above have employees continuously sanitizing slots. Danbury does it best by placing cards on the slots showing the machine has been sanitized. A player flips it over to indicate the slot has been played and is no longer sanitized. My wife and I were there about 3 hours and as we were preparing to leave I finally saw an employee sanitize a slot. I went to the men's room and got some paper towels which I soaked in foam sanitizer so I could wipe down a slot before playing it.
#4. The beverage stations at Black Bear and Danbury are closed to public use to prevent contamination. Staff will provide beverages at all 3. Not at Hinckley. Anyone can use them creating another way to spread the virus.
I guarantee, as seniors, my wife and I will no longer visit Grand Casino until this pandemic is over. I advise the public to do the same.Written August 23, 2020

Food terrible machines soso
Jul 2020 • Couples
We just visited Grand Casino Hinckley for the first time since reopening and to say the least not impressed. Slots were beyond tight and the 2 food venues were awful. We went to stories for breakfast, our eggs were overcooked. And sausage patties burnt on one side and unable to cut with a knife. Grand provisions (buffet) is now the 24 hr choice. We had burgers and fries, burgers way over done, fries so dry even salt and ketchup didn't help.
We have been coming here for over 20ys and it seems to be going downhill quickly.Written July 21, 2020

Below average stay in hotel
Oct 2021 • Couples
We stayed at the hotel and first impressions were not good. We arrived around 8:30pm and there was a very long line for check in. It took us around 40 minutes to get our keys, was not very happy. Once in the room we noticed it looked to be very clean, which was a positive. The cleaning staff did a good job. The carpet is in dire need of a shampoo. While clearly vacuumed, it had a stickyness to bare feet which was unsettling.
The bed was quite hard and not all that comfortable. Could really use an update.
Using the bathroom in the morning to shower worked well and the sink had plenty of room.
Were it not for the terrible check in experience it could have been 3 stars but it gets one knocked off for it. Overall many areas to improve.Written October 2, 2021

Beware concert seating plan
Apr 2012 • Couples
My husband and I recently attended the "Straight No Chaser" concert at Grand Casino Hinckley. The seats we purchased through Ticketmaster were six rows back on the right hand side of the stage. While the quality of the concert itself was excellent, we were extremely disappointed that we only saw the backsides of the performers on the stage as they did not play to the sides (and thus we missed all the interaction between members of the group, which was a lot). The casino had a giant screen to aid in viewing the concert but we were forward of that and had to turn almost completely around in our seats in order to see the screen. Hence, we really could only listen to the concert, having no good sight line for either the performers or the big screen. Beware of purchasing seats in the front sections of either side of the stage!.

Deserves less than a poor rating!
Jan 2019 • Couples
I can't even describe how irritated I am with my recent visit at Grand Casino Hinckley. It was 4 hours of pure gambling hell. The slot machines were beyond tight. If you ever got a bonus round they would pay $1 or 2$. I remember this casino use to be worth the drive from the Twin Cities to get better play than Mystic or Treasure Island. Not any more! This now ranks the number worse casino in the world IMHO and I have been to a lot of them. Needless to say they lost another long time customer here. Next recession will put these greedy operators out of business and Minnesota can bring in some fair state or private casinos. The reality is that to fund their empire of greed they need to tighten up the machines to the point that it is entirely possible that you will get no play or action throughout your entire visit. Put an end to Indian casinos in Minnesota and bring in fair gaming, talk to your legislators!!!

Can you tell me what seats you had? I am interested in Alabama in July, but don't want bad seats.
ItsME43Minneapolis, MN45 contributions
The concert I went to was indoors. The concerts held in the summer are outdoors. You don't need to worry about bad seats since the stage is higher up.
